AEO plays a vital role in the security amendment of the Customs Code which came into force on 1st July 2009. It aims to ensure an equivalent level of protection through customs controls for all goods going through EU customs territory and stipulates that security data must be provided electronically by economic operators before the goods enter or leave the community customs territory. Charles Kendall Freight and Charles Kendall Packing hold the highest level of AEO status. Freight achieved the status in February 2010 and Packing in August 2014. Furthermore, our security and safety standards have been audited and approved across our 6 UK sites. As one of the relatively few companies in the UK to hold the this standard, we have a lower risk score within HMRC systems and in turn our clients receive a “Fast track” service through Customs controls.
Charles Kendall Freight are members of AICES, the UK trade organisation for companies handling international express documents and package shipments. Its members provide door-to-door transport and deliveries of tracked next-day or time-definite shipments, including documents, parcels and merchandise goods. AICES members are responsible for over 95% of the international courier and express shipments moved through the UK every day.

BIFA has around 1500 corporate members, known generally as freight forwarders, who offer a wide range of services within these various modes. Charles Kendall Freight have been members since 1997.

FIATA is a non-governmental organisation, representing approximately 40,000 forwarding and logistics firms and employing around 8-10 million in 150 countries.
IATA is a trade association for the world’s airlines, representing some 275 airlines or 83% of total air traffic.
Investors in People is a not-for-profit organisation recognizing quality People Management and offering accreditation to organisations that adhere to the Investors in People standard. Charles Kendall Freight have held this standard since 2012. IIP was started in 1991 as a government-backed initiative and in 2017 became an independent not-for-profit organisation.
Charles Kendall Group including Charles Kendall Freight are certified to ISO 9001, the international standard for quality management systems, with ISOQAR as the UKAS certifying body. ISO 9001 certification provides assurance that processes are in place to ensure controls over CK Freight’s activities that are consistent across the business and backed up by external verification from ISOQAR’s audits as well as the on-going scrutiny provided by internal audits and continual improvement.

Charles Kendall Packing are a member of TIMCON (The Timber Packaging and Pallet Confederation) which is concerned with protecting timber through promoting re-usable, easily repaired and compliant timber. All our timber complies with the international standard (ISPM15) accepted in over 50 countries, which ensures timber has been properly treated and is safe for commercial use. And because it is sourced from Europe’s growing forests, it’s carbon neutral too. We also require our subcontractors, suppliers and service providers to support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
